Macos 10.15 Chrome 93
Upgrading From macOS High Sierra to macOS 10.15 (Crash
Contents [Constantinople]
Hi, this has been the last version of MacOS installed on my iMac. I upgraded to it last week after some last-gen updates that brought things to a halt. However it was stuck in the "crash" mode long enough that I had to just recover everything and reinstall everything over again.
Thankfully it's fixed now so I should be able to up and running again as soon as I push the switch to the old version of macOS in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully by then I can finally get my iMac back from the brink of death again. It's already started to struggle to be put to sleep and my iMac is currently running near to half on its power consumption since upgrading.
It's more that Apple seems to still be fixing rather than just fixing. Like I said last time there was the "launch dix in safe mode" thing. In the end I can tell you the launchd crash that made OS X go 'bust' is still completely gone, though. Apple's new security fix also makes it impossible for me to get back into full-power mode when I try.
There's a bug that could still hold me back from being able to repair my iMac, though. They're still working on locking out all GUI apps from being reactivated in safe mode, so I won't be able to restore my system anytime soon if a virus has hijacked my OS X.
And the most annoying thing of all... My GPU is about to die now :(
So you're looking at an interesting end to a long story. I've had problems for months on end where I wouldn't be able to power my iMac properly into the 3D MacOS update mode unless I reset the machine. So far I thought that I could restore my Mac back to how it was if I simply shutdown and waited a few days or so - but those same pesky GUI apps kept refusing to launch. With time after time Windows was able to run fine before OS X was upgraded and Windows before that, because it uses the GUI for launching services. Until then I didn't have an iMac at all because it wouldn't last a week without power.
